Gtalk Tips & Tricks!!

In this article i mentioned few GTALK tips & tricks. Most of the people use Gtalk in thier daily life, i hope this article will be helpful for them as well as for the new user.

Italic Text
Use underscores before and after the text to make it italic.

Bold Text
Use asterix before and after the text to make it bold.

Font Size
Hold down ctrl key and move your mouse scroll button, up or down to change the font size in the message.

Show Hyperlinks
You can show your homepage or blog URL just by entering it at the top of the main window.

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • CTRL + E Center text
  • CTRL + R Right justify text
  • CTRL + L Left justify text
  • F11 Start a call
  • F12 Stop the call
  • ESC Close the current window
  • F9 Open Gmail to send an email to the current contact

Direct Launch
No need of installing Gtalk, use talkgadget to directly launch Gtalk.

Multiple Paragraph
To write a multiple paragraph message, hold shift and hit enter to start a new paragraph. It will move cursor to the new line.

Gtalk Autoreply
Gtalk autoreply is a windows utility to set an auto reply for Gtalk, which the message will be automatically sent to others who ever ping you.

A message can be max 32767 characters long!!

I just want to make a comment to the person who said “yeah learn to live without right click.” Macs DO have right click and no you don’t have to hold down ctrl on the keyboard. You can set mac mouse to do both left and right click just like a windows pc.
