Pixlr has a Firefox add-on that lets you right-click on an image and directly edit it using pixlr.com.

I can recommend Sumopaint.com, not on the list. It’s a fairly new one on the market (January of 2009), but so far it looks pretty good. It’s free, flash based, with effects and layers. It works great on my netbook when I’m on the go.

I love this – i’m all about uploading my photos either to my MAC or to a photo sharing site but to know that there are sites out there that can help me edit my pics – tha’s even better!

If you do not want to use CDs or DVDs at all then have an extra back up on a 2nd hard drive or if all your photos do not add up to a volume that is too large then some sort of memory based storage, like a USB Flash Drive or extra memory card that is just being used for the back up.
